God’s Masterpieces
“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10
I am reminded of the story of a woman who had a beautiful handkerchief; unfortunately, she accidently spilled splotches of dark ink all over it. She was distraught and sadden because the handkerchief had been ruined. One day she shared the incident with an exceptionally good friend who was an artist. He told her to send the handkerchief and let him look at it. After some time, she received a package in the mail from her friend. On opening the package, she was surprised to find the most extraordinary and beautiful sight; he had masterfully created a work of magnificence out of the ruined handkerchief!
Have you ever had moments in your life when you looked back and felt like you have just truly made a real mess of things! It has happened to us all. But we can praise God that our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ picked up every last of one His beloved children and took us out of the miry clay- and my God…He is creating a beautiful masterpiece out of our lives for His glory! Ephesians 2:10 state “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.”
My friends, God has the master plans-or the blueprint of our spiritual houses; He is guiding and orchestrating the events of our lives according to His divine providence; our lives are the works of His hands! “But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.” Isaiah 64:8.
No, we do not know what the future holds, or always understand the rough roads that we must travel…but we know that our Master- the Lord our God is omnipotent…therefore, we can rest confident and assured that He is lovingly ordering our steps. “The steps of a good man are ordered b the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” Psalm 37:23
So, in times of indecision, feelings of unworthiness or facing the unknown future; let us keep our eyes on the Lord, trusting in the knowledge that our Creator, who is too wise to make a mistake and definitely not finished with us yet…regardless to how we or even others perceive our present or future outcomes, is fulfilling His faithful promise found in Romans 8:28“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
And… just like that ruined handkerchief, our lives are being formed into a beautiful masterpiece far be beyond our greatest belief! Praise be to God that we are His Masterpieces…John Newton who penned the beloved song Amazing Grace also wrote these inspirational words: “I am not what I ought to be, I am not what I want to be, I am not what I hope to be in another world; but still I am not what I once used to be, and by the grace of God I am what I am”
Find peace in knowing that our hope and confidence is in the finishing work of God! “Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” 1 John 3:2.
God blessings, keep your focus on the Master builder of our souls!
