Trust!

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6.

At an early age heading off to college a pastor and dear friend wrote Proverbs 3:5-6 on a note and told me to keep its meaning deep in my heart wherever I went. To this day it is one of my favorites. When I am despondent or concerned it grounds me to God and His omnipotence. In my spirit I hear these words “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6.

Trust is the act of placing all your belief and hope in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength in something or someone. Life can send us down some pathways that we have no humanly idea how to walk; yet we who believe and know that God is our sovereign Lord, trust in His truth, power, and faithfulness.

Life happens, we encounter physical, spiritual, and mental difficulties…but we need not fear, because we are safe in His loving arms of protection. “Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10.

So, my friends what are your concerns and crosses to bear at this very moment…. are you broken hearted and feel as though all hope is gone-trust, are you sick in your body and racking with pain-trust, are you anxious and fear the unknown-trust, are you down to your last dime and all the bills are due-trust!

God is the lover and comforter of our souls, He will never leave you nor forsake you, wait on God…He will deliver! “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.” Psalm 34:19.

Where He leads you, He will keep you … His truth and peace casts out fear in those times of uncertainty; He is the light in the darkness, and the way out of no way…and even when we mess up- we fall short of His glory, just like the eaglet that is pushed out of the nest to fly…when it falters, the eagle swoops down and bears it up to safety…God has His protective eye on us and will succor us through the storms of life!” Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4.

May the comforting words of the old familiar hymn His Eye is on the Sparrow, keep our hearts and minds in perfect peace:

Why should I feel discouraged, why should the shadows come,

Why should my heart be lonely, and long for heaven and home,

When Jesus is my portion? My constant friend is He:

His eye is on the sparrow, and I know He watches me;

May God blessings of peace and protection keep us all.

Blessings and peace to all.
