The Light of Life

“Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” John 8:12.

The first reaction when walking into a dark room is to turn on the light, without the light we are unable to see obstacles in our way, find what we are looking for, or even to move safely around the area; we have absolutely no sense of direction… so it is without spiritual insight as well-without the light of the world, you walk in spiritual darkness, lost, afraid, lonely and with no sense of direction, truth or hope, finding it easy to stumble and fall.

Jesus often used parables or analogies that His hearers could easily associate with life experiences, such as the contrast between light and darkness. There was no electricity during that time and oil lamps were used, we can imagine how dark and fearful the night could appear outside the use of that small lamplight… but Jesus spoke of the spiritual light that dispels all darkness. “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.”  John 8:12.

Prior to salvation every born-again believer also walked in darkness, fear and perpetual sin, unable to see the truth of God and to know how to love Him and our fellowman; but once we received the new birth, we received the true source of spiritual light; and praise be to God, the Holy Spirit  eompowers us with direction, peace and strength to run this Christian journey victoriously.“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.” 2 Corinthians 5:17.

Know this, we are all in a spiritual warfare-the fight between good and evil; that old devil, the arch enemy of our souls is and always has been the ruler of darkness and sin that separates us from God. The word of Lord warns us in 1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whbut om he may devour:”

Satan’s  job is to try and take us out my friends- but all born-again believers are sealed by the power of the Holy Ghost-and if you flip your Bible over to the book of Revelation Chapter Twenty Satan’s demise is told, and God wins!

“And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” Revelation 20:10.

If  by chance you are reading this and you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, you must make a decision as to where  you will spend eternity-with or without God; “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” Hebrews 9:27.

No man knows the day nor the hour that God will require our souls to return to Him… so while the blood is still running warm in your veins- this is the day that Jesus is calling . . . listen, He’s knocking on the door of your heart- let Him in… He is the Light of Life!

“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20.

God blessings to all-today is the day of salvation!
