Have You Heard?
“And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.” Luke 18:36.
Have you ever cried out in despair…“Lord, have mercy on me!” – it is in those weakest moments that we let go, and release those heavy burdens over to the One who has all power to heal and deliver-Jesus! Luke chapter 18 tells us of a certain blind man that set at the wayside on the road to Jericho begging-but suddenly, he heard a great commotion. “And hearing the multitude pass by, he asked what it meant.” they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. He immediately cried out to Jesus and in opposition the crowds rebuked him, but he cried out even the more!
Jesus heard his cry and straight way had the blind beggar brought to Him, asking him what he desired for Him to do; he answered: Lord, that I may receive my sight. Luke 18:42-43 gives an account of God’s great mercy on display! “And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee. And immediately he received his sight, and followed him, glorifying God: and all the people, when they saw it, gave praise unto God. Jesus answered the man’s prayers and healed him that very same moment!
What a wonderful testimony to the man’s faith in Jesus’ ability to help and deliver him; regardless to the opposition from the naysayers, the blind man cried out in desperation to Jesus – “And he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And they which went before rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried so much the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.” Luke 18:38-39. by faith he believed Jesus had miraculous wonderworking power to restore his sight! Hebrews 11:6 reminds us “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.”
That poor blind beggar absolutely refused for his cries to be silenced, neither can we allow the influences of others to suppress our cries; the prayer of faith will never go out in vain; God in His omniscience, answers before we even call! “And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.” Isaiah 65:24.
I ask someone out there today, have you heard about a man name Jesus who has miraculous wonderworking power? He is the same merciful and compassionate Lord today, and He hears the humble cries to all those who call on Him in faith…like the blind beggar, are you standing on the wayside of life in need of a miracle-Jesus is closer than the very air that we breathe-call and He will answer!
You can call Him everyday,
even when you can’t find your way.
He’ll be there to supply your needs,
He’s the only true friend indeed;
He’s the greatest friend of all, have you heard?
God blessings, peace, and grace be with us all!
