The Lord is Sovereign!

“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” Matthew 6:13

Sovereign is defined as supreme power or authority. In the beginning God created… He is the beginning and the ending of all things; He does exactly what He wants, when and how He desires to, because He is our sovereign Lord who rules supreme in Heaven and on earth. Do you believe this today? Matthew 6:13b states “For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” Matthew 6:13.

Life circumstances can place us in some very uncharted waters. When we consider global political and religious conflicts, loss of loved ones and friends, debilitating illnesses, financial downfalls, mental or spiritual anguish and many other conditions that so often plaque our existence in the blink of any eye…we have no other choice than to humble ourselves before God, recognizing that He is sovereign. He can decide to do with His creation that which is the pleasure of His divine counsel. “The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.” Psalm 24:1.

Job 42:2 states it like this “I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.” Unknown fears and anxieties can debilitate the mind and heart; but God is preparing and maturing us for dangers seen and unseen because He cares for us, and there is absolutely no failure in Him.

God loves us unconditional… John 3:16 state “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Praise God, who makes all things right…we can rest in the knowledge that in His divine wisdom is the ultimate plan to give us greater than we can even imagine, and even though there are heart wrenching times when we may not understand how it really does work all together for good; through every experience He covers us under His protective wings of love, never leaving or forsaking us.

So, even in the face of great turmoil, devastation or loss, the only absolute is God. God is … He reigns forever and all things obey His will. Let us learn each day to hold to His gracious and loving hands… every trial and tribulation work for good and His glory. David expressed the power and protection of the Great Shepherd of the sheep, our Great I AM with these comforting words: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4. God’s power, protection, comfort, and unfailing love is with us in and above all things now and forever…we are safe in His everlasting arms!

So, my friends, when the unanswered questions and tears began to flow, as they certainly will, let us remember that He allows these things to grow, strengthen and increase our faith; He changes, molds and strengthens our hearts in the midst of our circumstances and we learn to praise Him for His loving kindness towards us even the more; as we run to the foot of the cross where our Savior bled and died, but early the third day morning…got up with all power in His hands and because He lives, we can rest in His power, majesty, mercy and eternal love forever. “The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” Jeremiah 31:3.

God blessings of peace and mercy be with us now and forever.
