Did You Consult God First?
“For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” Philippians 2:13
How many times do you make plans for yourself, your children, grandchildren, spouse, and others to do or have things in the future, especially since you have prepared and worked diligently for your desire outcome? If you are honest, we do it all the time; but the truth is we own nothing, not even ourselves…Deuteronomy 10:14 state “Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the Lord’s thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.”
Then we often suffer grave consequences, much heartache, and disappointments when things do not go our way…now why is that-the problem arises when we do not stop to consult God for His will in our lives or the lives of our loved ones. Only God knows what is best for us and holds the future. The bible teaches us a parable of a certain rich man whose field brought in a great yield… “And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided?” Luke 12:18-20 He had no earthly idea that his soul would be required to go back to God. . . where was his thoughts to bless others with his increase- or even first ask God what to do with it?
Seeking a closer walk with the Lord, teaches us to reverence, honor and give Him the glory for all things. We learn to consult Him for His direction and wisdom for every decision that we make in life. Psalm 37;23 states: “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way”.
God has divine providence over all things, let us learn to pray for His direction and settle it in our hearts that if it is the Lord’s will, I will go here or do this. My friends, when we let God lead the way before us, we will experience innumerable spiritual blessings, such as His goodness, peace, joy, mercy, and unconditional love as we continue on this journey of life…so, always remain steadfast in prayer, remembering that God knows what’s best, and holds the ultimate plans to whatever lies ahead in the future. “A man’s heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.” Proverbs 16:9.
Scripture admonishes us in how to respond about the future… “Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.” James 4:15.
We can trust and unknown future with our Great and Almighty God; He will faithfully direct our paths in the way that we should go…God help us all to simply let go and let Him lead the way! “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3:5-6.
Blessing and peace be with you all.
Trust and Amen
