Be Thankful in All Things

“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” I Thessalonians 5:18.

The new job that affords a financial increase, quite easily brings praise and thanksgiving to the lips and heart of the receiver; but does the tree that just fell on a home and demolished a substantial portion to be repaired evoke the same heart of thanksgiving? In all honesty, the human mind in the first incident is saying… “thank you Jesus!” And the second incident, “Lord, have mercy!” But, as beloved children of God, we are admonished to be thankful to God for everything. “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18.

Everyone of us who have lived to the age of accountability and accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord, knows that we experience both sunny and rainy days in life. But when we recognize and know the worth of prayer…where we are able to come boldly before the throne of grace, coming in faithful assurance that God has divine providence over every circumstance that concern us, both the favorable and the unfavorable, we can meet and agree with the Holy Spirit that God is good in all things!

“Thy will be done” should be the sincere plea of every prayer… not my will, but thine will oh Lord. God knows best, and He is the one that orders our steps…we can rest that His will is going to be done, He hears our call and will answer. “But now, O Lord, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.” Isaiah 64:8.

Our Father in Heaven, provides for all that we need today and always… He knows, He sees, and He is in complete control of our lives. We have to settle it in our hearts that He omniscient and is truly working all things out for our good. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28.

Releasing every circumstance and encounter over to the will of our Almighty God is what provides the peace, sinew (strength) and heart that allows us to say thank you Lord, in and through all things; everything does not feel good to us, and somethings hurt and cause us to fall to our knees, for His comfort and grace to keep running this race; but praise God, He has a plan that reaches far beyond our greatest imaginations…regardless to what things may appear to be at the moment, this too shall pass. “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21.

So, as the Apostle Paul admonished the saints in Thessalonica…in everything give thanks…for truly this is the will of God concerning you. All of God’s beloved children are exactly where He wants us to be, let us trust in His unending mercy and amazing grace; God will never fail. The old hymn proclaims… I will trust in the Lord, stay on my bending knees, until I die. Thank you, Jesus!

God blessings and amazing grace to you all.
