“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1.

Trust is the firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. Our beliefs can often be based on trust that is dependent on what we see, but faith far supersedes the aforementioned belief in that it is trust based on hearing. The bible tells us in Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

It is by our faith that we walk this journey called life. Our faith is a response to what God has said. “(For we walk by faith, not by sight:) 2 Corinthians 5:7.  Nothing in this life is assured but God! It is in Him that we must cast all our cares. God is sovereign and orchestrates the events of this world and all that concerns us…so then, it makes perfect sense to me to trust in the One who holds the future in His all-powerful hands; “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” Hebrews 11:3.

Regardless to our concerns at this very moment, physical, spiritual, emotional, or financial we can depend on God…He is faithful and true. Someone once said that the value of a promise is as good as the promiser…God never fails, every Word of God is true. Isaiah 55: 11 comforts our souls with these words “So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” My friends, we can stand on the promises of God…if He said it that settles it!

Wherever circumstances take us in this life, when we are covered in the precious blood of the crucified Lamb of God, our Savior, Jesus the Christ… we can walk by faith. God, the Great Shepherd of the sheep…has it all in His hands! The old familiar hymn state Hold to God’s unchanging hand!

Time is filled with swift transition,

Naught of earth unmoved can stand,

Build your hopes on things eternal,

Hold to God’s unchanging hand.

Trust in Him who will not leave you,

Whatsoever years may bring,

If by earthly friends forsaken

Still more closely to Him cling.
