“Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139: 23-24.

How often do you pour your heart out before our Lord and Savior, seeking guidance? I am not sure about you, but it is my daily prayer for His wisdom, guidance, and peace to lead me in the right direction; especially when the way seems overcast, and I have absolutely no idea which way to go. But the One who searches the hearts, can provide all that we need. “Search me, O God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts: And see if there be any wicked way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” Psalm 139: 23-24.

Those tough times teach us how to faithfully open our hearts up to God; when we kneel consistently before Him in prayer; seeking to get it right; it is in those moments we receive the strength to pass any test that comes our way. Psalm 25:5 state “Lead me in thy truth, and teach me: for thou art the God of my salvation; on thee do I wait all the day.” Psalm 25:5.

King David was not a perfect man, but the scripture tells us He was a man after God’s on heart. “And when he had removed him, he raised up unto them David to be their king; to whom also he gave their testimony, and said, I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after mine own heart, which shall fulfil all my will.” Acts 13:22. His life characterized one who loved the Lord, obedient and not rebellious, he sinned but showed true repentance; he sought the Lord with all His heart to do His will. Can the same character be found in us?

Let us humbly seek God for His guidance and wisdom… searching the scriptures and staying constant in prayer; listening for a word from the Lord, and when He answers… let us follow where He leads. “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” Psalm 37:23.

In Psalm 23 David gets right down and personal… he states, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”  He was expressing that he had an intimate relationship with the Lord, God Jehovah…Our Father, who provides, protects, and gives us all that we need.

Every born-again believer can proclaim that The Lord is my shepherd; We can call on Him morning, noon or night, praise God as the old gospel hymn goes, He’ll be there! Whatever you may be seeking guidance and clarity for today… simply open your heart up to God and trust Him to lead the way. Proverbs 3:5-6 gives these comforting words of guidance “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”
