Bring it on!

“(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)” 2 Corinthians 10:4.

Bring it on is a phrase that my son admonished me some years ago as he surprised me by walking in our home from college one morning. It was close to one o’clock am when I heard the front door opening, living alone, I said a prayer and reached for the closest weapon I could find, a solid wood baseball bat near my bed and headed to the front ready for attack! Only to see my son walking in.

My words were …man, do not scare me like that! He responded with a smile, that’s right mom, bring it on, do not ever wait, you always fight with all you got! Those word have always stuck with me both physically and spiritually.

As we live through a pandemic, social, economic, and cultural chaos in this world, let us remember that we are in a spiritual warfare. The enemy of our souls is always attacking and ready to take us out. 1 Peter 5:8 admonishes “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”

Satan and his demonic forces are constantly on the job, and he simply turns the heat up! But praise be to God, he may be a formidable foe, but the weapons that we are equipped with are far beyond even his power; “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” Ephesians 6:10-11. Our God is omnipotent!

As born-again believers we are on the battlefield for our Lord; stay suited up in your mind, body, and spirit, and when the attacks come, and they will, give it all you got. Learn to follow the 3R’s of a Christian Soldier: Recognize, Resist and Report. Recognize when the enemy is attacking you, Resist the devil and he will flee from you and Report, or take it to the Lord in prayer; God is able and will fight our battles…we just need to let go and let Him take charge!

The struggle is real, but we have the victory. God has divine providence over every circumstance in our lives; recall how God admonished Satan to consider His servant Job… “And the Lord said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the Lord.” Job 1:12.

Sometimes we too are picked out to be picked on; and remember that the best soldiers get sent into the heat of the battle. But this day I choose to be powerful and not pitiful; spiritually walking in the strength of our Almighty and Sovereign God.

What about you? Stay vigilant, watchful, and prayed up; following the guidance of the Holy Ghost, always ready to bring it on! “(For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)” 2 Corinthians 10:4.

God blessings of power and love be with us all
