Praise Ye the LORD

“Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name.” Psalms 63:3-4.

“Because of who you are, I give you glory, because who you are I give you praise;” these are starting lyrics from the beautiful inspirational song, “Just Because of Who You Are,” written by Vicki Yoke. This morning, I just wanted to direct our thoughts on spending time giving our Great and Almighty God continual praise. Let us give Him thanks and worship Him just for who He is …regardless to what is going on in this world…He is our all and all.

The bible teaches us in Psalm 33:1 to: “Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.” Comely is a derivative from the Greek word euschémón-it means befitting, attractive, decorous, and even honorable. When we start praising, thanking, and acknowledging that our Lord is sovereign, we are seen pleasing in His sight. One song writer wrote, praise is what I do when I want to get next to you!

Everything will fall into peaceful perspective, when centered on our Creator God. He is in total control and if we believe in our hearts and way down deep in our sanctified souls that He has divine providence; then we have the confidence in knowing that He is ordering our steps.

So, let us be still amid our present circumstances, praising Him for who He is; among many names that we can attribute to our awesome God, He’s our Jehovah Nissi-The LORD our Banner; the one who fights for us and renders us victorious in all things.

In the book of Joshua 5:14, we find the account of Joshua, perplexed at the sight of a man standing with his sword drawn next to him; his concern was whose side the man was on, his or the adversaries; but the Lord answered him in reference to His total control on all sides, He was there to take charge. “And he said, Nay; but as captain of the host of the LORD am I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant?”  and just like He came to take charge of the battle in Jericho for Joshua; circumstances may be chaotic and unsure at this present time in our lives, but we can rest in the knowledge that God is in charge… He wins, and reigns in victory…To God be all the glory!

There is nobody greater than the LORD, let us join in triumphant voices of praise to the one and only wise God, our Savior now and forever. Psalm 150:1-6 states:

“Praise ye the LORD. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power. Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness. Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs. Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals. Let every thing that hath breath praise the LORD. Praise ye the LORD.”

No matter what, never forget, that God is Lord of all; He has this world in His hands…and certainly He holds you and I secure in His everlasting arms. PRAISE ye the LORD!

God’s blessing of peace, amazing grace and unfailing love be with us all.
