In Him Will I Trust

“Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8

Our Savior, Jesus the Christ is the same sovereign LORD from the beginning of time, the inaugural of the Gospel and with us two thousand years later. He is our merciful, powerful, and all-sufficient God. In Him we can trust and cast all our cares. “Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.” Isaiah 40: 28-29.

There is always something happening in life. We are going through something, coming out of something, or getting ready to go into something! The only constant is our great and almighty God. Life circumstances may take us by surprise on occasions and at times the enemy of our souls will try to make us feel as though we have no hope… yet, as children of God we know who holds our present circumstances and future lovingly in His care; there is absolutely nothing and no one can thwart God’s divine will for our lives.

How we respond to our circumstances make all the difference. When trials and tribulations come will we trust in the faithfulness of God or murmur and complain about our problems? It depends on where we are at that moment in our faith walk and dependence on God. Psalm 91:2 states “I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”

Past experiences of God faithfulness are our safety zones when we have no earthly idea about what to expect next. The same God who brought us out the last time and the time before that and the time before that… is the same One who will bring us out this time. Our first response should always be prayer and seeking God for peace, strength, and comfort. The Holy Spirit will empower us to keep our focus on the Lord, the One who has known us from the foundations of the world.

If He has kept us from the moment of conception and brought us thus far, He has no intention of leaving us now. We must settle it in our hearts that God is sovereign and there is none other like Him. All men are subject to fail at any given time, but there is absolutely no failure in God. He is immutable “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.” Hebrews 13:8.

So, right in the midst of our problems is the time that we must  “man-up”  be brave or tough enough to deal with an unpleasant situation; the act of holding on tight to our faith and facing the situation by “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”  Hebrews 12:2. His amazing grace is sufficient, and He will succor us forever.

God blessings of loving-kindness and tender mercies be with us all.
