Little Becomes Much

“Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.” Matthew 13:32.

The mustard seed is quite small-the seed is only .075 inches in diameter and can produce a shrub as tall as fifteen feet tall!  the Parable of the Mustard Seed found in the book of Matthew chapter thirteen, relates the theme of a small beginning that produces great results! “Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof.” Matthew 13:32.

The Kingdom of God began very humbly as a lowly carpenter in Nazareth, and His twelve disciples; yet the message of the kingdom-the gospel of Christ, blesses the whole world! Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:” Ephesians 1:3.

We often miss our blessings overlooking small humble beginnings-the tiniest things, looking for greater… the old gospel song reminds us to count your blessings, name them one by one, count your blessings and see what God hath done!

The enemy of our soul desires to place seeds of doubt, greed, and negativity in our hearts, rendering us unappreciative in all that we already have… let us stay focused, recognizing that we are blessed among millions of others in the world. “I cried because I had no shoes, until I saw a man with no feet.”

And, let me remind you of I Kings chapter seventeen, the account of how during a famine a poor woman was taking all that she had to feed her and her son and prepare to die, and the prophet Elijah told her to make a cake for him first…out of obedience to the man of God she did as she was told…and the bible tells us that the tiny portion of meal and oil never fail to yield an increase throughout the entire famine. “And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days. And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the Lord, which he spake by Elijah.” I Kings 17: 15-16.

What do you have that appears small and insignificant-whether it is your time, talents, or treasures, be thankful and entrust it all in the hands of the Lord; God is faithful, He will bless according to all that He has promised-watch how He miraculously turns your little into much! “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,” Ephesians 3:20.

God amazing grace and joy to all.
