An Everlasting Love!
“The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” Jeremiah 31:3.
A beautiful adorned bride stands with her groom at the altar, they’re gazing into one another eyes and they both make sincere promises to love one another forever. . . unfortunately, years later, something goes wrong, the love is gone and they are found standing before a judge claiming irreconcilable differences.
But let me tell you about another beautiful bride… the Church, comprised of all born-again believers, and she is the bride of our Lord, Jesus Christ; and we can rest in the assurance that His love for us is unconditional and everlasting, there is absolutely nothing that can separate us from Him! “I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39.
The nation of Israel was taken into captivity by King Nebuchadnezzar, this devastating set back was due to their disobedience in serving idols instead of faithfully following the covenant that they made in their relationship with God. The period of captivity lasted over seventy years. As we can imagine, the chosen children of God, found themselves despondent and feeling hopeless; but God is merciful and gracious. . . they were reminded to recall all of the goodness that God had shown to them since the times of their forefathers; and how He delivered and provided for them in the past; they would never be out of the watchful and protective eye of God; the captivity came to an end just as God had promised, and He faithfully allowed many of them to return to their homeland. “Know therefore that the Lord thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations;”Deuteronomy 7:9.
Regardless to where we may find ourselves in life or how bad we may have messed up… all of us who love the Lord and are called by His name can stand on His same promise today – His love is not temporary, or given for just one or two generations, but forever! “The Lord hath appeared of old unto me, saying, Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.” Jeremiah 31:3.
Our relational standing with God has been permanently fixed by the death and resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. “In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.” 1 John 4:9. Jesus paid it all…and through Him we have the right to the tree of life!
Though the road gets mighty tough and there are certainly many times that we can’t see our way through… just stop and remember that we are traveling this journey of life by faith, and not by sight; recognizing that we are never alone; our constant companion, comforter, and faithful guide, the Holy Spirit…is with us every step of the way; He brightens the path, lightens the load, and assures us that God’s grace is sufficient for all that we need! “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9.
My friends, this day…let us cast all our cares on Jesus, the Christ- our Creator and the Savior of the world; praise be to God, we are safe and secure in His everlasting arms of love! “Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, Comfort your hearts, and stablish you in every good word and work.” 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17.
God’s blessings of peace and never forget the Jesus loves you!
