Everlasting Peace

“Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27.

Peace is sought by everyone-even those who bring discord, hatred, and violence in the world are subliminally thinking they are establishing peace…I can hear the spiritual hymn being sung by the choir-“Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.” and as much as we all desire peace, the fact is, it does not begin with us! The old cliché’ tells the whole truth of the matter . . . “No Jesus, No Peace…Know Jesus, Know Peace!”

Peace begins with having a right relationship with God, which can only be achieved by faith in Jesus Christ our Lord… “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:1.

My friends, Jesus is our peace. Ephesians 2:14 states “For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us;” Because He lives…we can face tomorrow!

On the night of the Last Supper Jesus spoke with the disciples, preparing them for His departure…He left these comforting words as He was headed to face the cross-“Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” John 14:27.

The peace that the world offers is fleeting and materialistic…things, money, recognitions, successful endeavors…but Jesus provides all that we need to have eternal and everlasting peace. “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

Christ dwelling in us through the power of the Holy Ghost gives us the power to run this Christian race with peace-sudden attacks of  fear and anxiety are  alleviated, strongholds such as depression, various addictions, mental illnesses- and many other debilitating circumstances must flee at the very command of His voice saying-“Peace, be still!”

God’s grace has given me enough years and experiences to know that this journey of life is not stress free and easy.  But I am so glad that I can witness, that the Great Shepherd of the Sheep-the Lord God Almighty has and always will be my shield of protection, my way maker, my comforter and constant companion in the midst of every trial and tribulation, and praise God…He is the anchor that keeps my very soul!

And…the best part about it, in God there is no big “I’s and little “you’s” – His grace, mercy, and everlasting peace is extended to us all!

So, at this very moment, let not your heart be troubled-though the trials and tribulations that you are encountering may be mighty rough…Jesus is closer than the very air that we breathe-He is in control and  will never leave you, nor forsake you- find comfort in these words “These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33.

Blessings and Peace!
